Reflexology is offered as a treatment on the feet or hands using pressure and stimulation that create an effect to the rest of the body, such as harmonizing, stimulating, improving circulation, detoxification, improving the lymphatic system and help to balance the body, mind, emotions. It is an art and a science that has been used for thousands of years. Each point, and structural area on the foot, relates to an organ, gland, tissues, and the nervous system. Many specific points also refer to acupuncture points along the energy channels known as Chinese Meridians. There are 26 bones in the feet representing one fourth of all the bones in the body, and over 7,000 nerve endings in each foot/ankle.

When there are blockages in the feet, there may be symptoms that come from other parts of the body. By working with Reflexology Therapy, an experienced and dedicated Reflexology Therapist can assist to ‘unblock’ interferences through the feet.

Reflexology is offered ‘fully clothed’ with the removal of socks and with pants that can be rolled up to the knees, or shorts or yoga pants be brought in for sessions. Treatments are offered under a cozy blanket in the most comfortable position through all ages.

Registered Massage Therapy with Cupping Add-On

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin s to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Registered Massage Therapy with Acupuncture Add-On

Through these traditional Chinese methods we work with your bodies energy. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain.

Meet Amanda Newman, OT Reg. (Ont.), Psychotherapist

Ready to enter your healing era? Maybe you’re tired of listening to your harsh inner critic, you’ve decided that you want to be kinder to yourself, or you have heard of self-compassion and want to learn more about it.

Whether you are facing a major life transition, struggling with mental health issues like anxiety or depression, or simply seeking personal growth, I aim to help you navigate life’s challenges with a tailored approach to address your unique needs.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which emphasizes the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Ultimately, you are the one who knows you best, and my role is not to “fix” you, but to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions freely.

For the “pathological people-pleasers” out there who excel at helping others but struggle to do the same for themselves, I offer Self-Compassion Informed Psychotherapy. I aim to help you develop a kinder and more supportive relationship with yourself, so that you have the capacity to continue to help others, and also be able to the things that are most meaningful to you.

By integrating evidence-based CBT techniques with Self-Compassion Informed Psychotherapy, I offer a unique style of therapy, working collaboratively with each client to understand where they are getting stuck, and develop personalized strategies for managing life’s challenges.

Areas of Expertise

With over 10 years of experience in the field of mental health, I bring a deep understanding of the complexities of humans and their emotions, and a passion for supporting my clients on their journey towards healing and self-discovery.

I have extensive experience working with clients dealing with anxiety (i.e. generalized anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, etc.), depression, obsessive-compulsive concerns, and trauma.

I am passionate about working with fellow healthcare workers, over-achievers, perfectionists, and others who are hard on themselves or may be struggling with burnout. I also work with folks trying to repair their relationship with their bodies and disengage from diet culture through a body liberation framework & body acceptance/body neutrality approach.

Education and Credentials

I hold a Master of Science (MSc) in Occupational Therapy from University of Toronto, and I am a registered occupational therapist in Ontario, accredited by College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (www.COTO.org). I am also certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy by Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT-ACTCC) and hold a certificate in Self-Compassion Informed Psychotherapy from the Centre for Mindful Self-Compassion (CMSC).

My ongoing commitment to professional development ensures that I stay current with the latest research and therapeutic techniques, providing my clients with the highest standard of care.

I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey!
